Thallus foliose, adnate, circular to irregular in outline, to 2 (-5) cm in diameter. Lobes discrete, with thin interspaces, linear to cuneate, (0.3-)0.6-1.5(-3.5) mm wide, branched repeatedly, apices flabellate, white rhizines visible at margins. Upper surface epruinose, flat, smooth or very slightly wrinkled, with radiating lines, bluish-gray to bluish-green when dry, becoming darker when wet; isidia absent. Lower surface white to brownish, with concolorous rhizines. Apothecia adnate, irregular, 1.0-2.5 mm in diameter, disc yellowish-red to red-brown, flat to slightly convex. Spores fusiform to ovoid to oblong, 3-6 (-7) x 2-4 µm, often with two oil droplets. Pycnidia ‘bottle-shaped’, up to 0.5 mm high (Arvidsson, 1982; Santesson, 1952; Singh, 1978).
