The alkaline Olmès volcanic field covers an area of 20 x 70 km in the Middle Atlas Range of Morocco. The volcanic field was active during the Pliocene and Pleistocene, with K-Ar dates of 0.9-0.31 million years (Liegeois et al., 2005).
